Ohio Department of Health PREP for Nursing Homes
The Provider Resources and Education Program (PREP) supports nursing homes and other long-term care providers with education, training, and other resources designed to improve and protect the safety, health, and quality of life for residents and others in their care. PREP works collaboratively with facilities and industry stakeholders to enhance knowledge and skills in delivering person-centered, competent, and compassionate care.
Ohio Department of Aging EXCEL Program
The Excellence in Clinical & Educational Learning (EXCEL) Academy is a program designed to empower nursing homes and their staff to shine through continuing education and support from clinical experts. Nursing homes can participate in the EXCEL Academy free of charge.
Regional Rapid Response Assistance Program (R3AP)
A free service from the Ohio Department of Aging available to nursing homes, assisted living facilities, adult day services, and senior centers. This holistic approach is available in times of outbreak, but also whenever a facility would like consultation on best practices and support. R3AP can serve as a second opinion on considerations that should be taken within your facility to assist with the health and safety of residents. R3AP helps connect the dots of available resources, assisting your facility can access those resources efficiently and effectively.
Superior Health Quality Alliance
Superior Health Quality Alliance is a joint venture that serves as Ohio’s Quality Innovation Network–Quality Improvement Organization (QIN-QIO) in the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS) 13th Scope of Work (13SOW), delivering no-cost quality improvement support to Medicare beneficiaries across the country.

CMS NH Staffing Campaign
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is launching a national Nursing Home Staffing Campaign aimed at increasing the number of nurses working in nursing homes and at the state agencies that inspect nursing homes for compliance with health and safety standards, ultimately better improving and protecting residents’ health and safety.

Bureau of Infectious Diseases
The goal of the Bureau of Infectious Diseases (BID) is to prevent and control the spread of infectious diseases (e.g., foodborne outbreaks, general infectious diseases, healthcare-associated infections, influenza, meningitis, tuberculosis, vaccine-preventable diseases, waterborne outbreaks, zoonotic diseases and vector-borne diseases). The bureau works closely with local health departments (LHDs), healthcare providers and laboratories to ensure that infectious disease reports are reviewed and investigated timely; the program provides technical expertise and coordination to LHDs, healthcare providers, laboratories and where appropriate, the general public. Ohio's list of reportable infectious diseases and reporting requirements, including timelines for reporting and surveillance case definitions, are included in the Ohio Department of Health's Infectious Disease Control Manual (IDCM).
